You can also choose to dub the voice of one person but not the other.

<figure><img src="/files/hfE6mWterTgs2ARYOECS" alt=""><figcaption><p>A new type of dubbing: Mixed</p></figcaption></figure>

You can choose the dubbing parameters for each caller in the project.

<figure><img src="/files/Q9ct0PbtFyCAnpKiBty5" alt=""><figcaption><p>Adjust the intonation of the dubs with your voice</p></figcaption></figure>

When you generate automatic dubbing, it can happen that a sentence doesn't have the intonation you want. In such cases, it's difficult to adjust the result to obtain the rendering you have in mind.

That's why we invented the **emotion recorder** :wavy\_dash: 🎨.

Rather than having to play with sliders to adjust the emotions and prosody of your sentence, we now let you record your voice with the intonation you want, right from the editor.

We will then copy the emotion of your voice and apply it to the voice used in your project.

PS: This option is only available with cloned voice at the moment.

# How to use a Guideline

The Guideline Feature take your transcriptions and translations to the next level! 🚀

Our Guideline Feature is designed to enhance the transcription and translation by using an extra step that will adapt and polish your output regarding a prompt and time settings, making your projects aligned with your needs. When you apply a guideline, you can always compare it with the original version and come back to it.

### The Guideline allows you to improve the quality of your transcription and translation.

The Guideline Feature allows you to input specific instructions to tailor the transcription or translation output to your exact requirements. Whether you want to refine the text, adapt the tone for a specific audience, or ensure technical compliance with subtitle standards, this feature puts the control in your hands.

### Example of an enhancement:

#### Transcription enhancement

On the left the original version and on the right the enhanced version with a guideline.

<figure><img src="/files/tRxkcKbkdxr0FOo8Z91H" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/QwixDBGjebTV5sI7HKDA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/UP3nS2pOKXWBLkY2BBhC" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Translation enhancement (in French 🇫🇷)

On the left the original version and on the right the enhanced version with a guideline.

<figure><img src="/files/sUHs7EP1gRJ9cuIO6hix" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/XrYlokDuH90RsOdg1WGM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/AIm9I94UG6xhhBKiF1fH" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### How to use Your Guidelines in a Project:?

Create your project as usual and when you get to the settings page, click on the right-hand menus for Transcription and Translation.

<figure><img src="/files/8BbReNLqTCMTEdGKoYYJ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

And under the guideline dropdown option select the Guideline you want to use for the transcription and/or the translation. You can select different Guidelines for transcription and translation because the prompt instruction could be different. Per default you have different pre-build Guidelines in Checksub. We explain [how to create you own Guideline in this paragraph](#how-can-i-create-a-guideline).

<figure><img src="/files/2BX1QETyIzdnR8b3fV9i" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### How can I compare and delete changes made by the guideline?

When you're in the project, you can always compare and restore the original version of the subtitles before the Guideline was apply. Just click on the button with the three dot, and then click on "Compare Original Subtitles".

<figure><img src="/files/CNi8I576YulQWWrE0EPD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You will then see two columns in your subtitling area: the column on the left represents the original subtitles, the column on the right represents the subtitles that have been enhanced by the Guideline. If you wish to restore the original subtitles to replace those generated by the guideline, you can click again on the button with the three dots and then click on "Restore Original".

<figure><img src="/files/TQXdPscyg3tJKnMV9yfS" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You will then see a popup to click on a confirmation button that warns you of the loss of all changes you have made to subtitles that have been enhanced by the guideline. When you reset the subtitle, you'll be starting from scratch with the raw subtitles, untouched by the guideline. Now you can restart to work from the raw subtitles.

<figure><img src="/files/HzvjgRkUqRxK40nD1Oa8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### How Can I Create a Guideline?

***1. Go to the Guideline section***

You can create and manage your Guideline from [this page](https://my.checksub.com/customizations/guidelines) or from your dashboard by clicking on the top right profil icon and "Guidelines".&#x20;

***2. Enter Your Prompt***

You have two types of Guideline; one to improve the transcription and one to improve the translation.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/IUSRVlizzGsTZNX2AB5o" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

For each Guideline you can add a prompt to instruct our system on how to improve your transcription or translation. Then when you create your project you can select the Guideline you want to use to improve the transcription and the translation.

<figure><img src="/files/MUJD9i5Z9jhHgS71W0T1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

\
Examples of prompt for the **transcription** Guidelines:

2\. “Adjust the tone to be more casual and friendly for social media posts.”

3\. “Ensure the translation aligns with a professional corporate tone.”

5\. “Simplify the language to match a beginner-level understanding of the topic.”

6\. “Rephrase the translation to maintain the original humor or idiomatic expressions.”

7\. “Optimize the text for marketing by using persuasive and engaging language.”

***2. Enter Your Subtitle Technical Guidelines (Optional)***

You can also define specific technical parameters to ensure your subtitles meet industry standards. This is particularly useful if you're creating subtitles for long-form content, VOD platforms, TV or film.

• Number of lines maximum

• CPL (Characters Per Line): Limit the number of characters per line for better readability.

• CPS (Characters Per Second): Define the reading speed to match your audience’s pace.

• Frame Gap: Ensure the appropriate gap between subtitles for smooth transitions and viewer comfort.

We're planning to add more parameters in the coming weeks and month.

Tell us if you have any special needs. <team+support@checksub.com>

# How to use validation marks

Validation marks are used to indicate which subtitles or dubbing have been validated. This makes it easy for you to go back over the project and get an idea of the percentage of video that has been checked in each language.

Validation mark is specific to the language and the type of project (subtitling or dubbing).

So the sentences validated for subtitling and dubbing may be different.

<figure><img src="/files/o3YHgFTGxcUwcdAXwmTL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Automatic validation on reading

During video playback, phrases are automatically validated.

If you click on the mark and leave a red cross state then only a manual action will change the status of the phrase. This means that even if you play the video, the status will not change automatically.

<figure><img src="/files/5LQet3IYnx2rG5cMkbhs" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Percentage of validation by language and project type

Each time a subtitle or a dubbing is check we update the pourcentage of the language review.

<figure><img src="/files/Rcwo01OYhLPOyVt424YT" alt=""><figcaption><p>8% of the subtitle in french is review</p></figcaption></figure>

### Right-click action

If you right-click on the mark you have several bulk actions available.

# Dubbing

# Emotion Recorder

Emotion recording is a tool that lets you adjust the dubbing generated automatically by Checksub. It lets you record yourself with the intonation and prosody you want for one sentence.

### How do you edit the dubbing generated by AI to obtain a perfect result?

Sometimes, when you generate your automatic dubbing, you may not be satisfied with the [prosody](/get-started/glossaire#prosody) of a sentence. You don't know what's prosody is? Prosody is the patterns of intonation in the voice. So it's simple the way you say something, including the rhythm, some hesitation,etc...

### Stop playing with sliders and discover the new way to edit AI-generated voices.

To this day, the only way to adjust intonation was with a cursor, curve or tag system. The problem with this type of operation is that it takes an extremely long time to adjust. For example, when you're speaking, you don't have the fun of adjusting sliders or details to know whether you should pause or speak louder, etc. The problem with this type of solution is that it takes an extremely long time to adjust.

So we invented a new way of editing AI-generated voice.\
We call it the **emotion recorder.**

### Information

* This option is only available with cloned voice at the moment.
* Ideally, the recording should be made by someone who speaks the target language, to avoid adding foreign accents in the generated sentence.

### How to use emotion recorder?

#### 1 - Start by generating your dubbing project.

#### 2 - Open your project

<figure><img src="/files/NkMbeuKFVwRYKGppmbqJ" alt=""><figcaption><p>Dubbing Editor</p></figcaption></figure>

#### 3 - Select the sentence you want to improve and click on **"EDIT VOICE"**

<figure><img src="/files/7VWRfLo6U5dNFDWkMFHt" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click on "Edit voice" to open the right panel</p></figcaption></figure>

#### 4 - When you click on "EDIT VOICE" you will open a right panel Go to the **Emotion Recording** section and click on the "Record" button

<figure><img src="/files/JWezl9aZGFRPLafLfOrf" alt=""><figcaption><p>Open the right panel</p></figcaption></figure>

#### 5 - The first time you will have to grand access to your micro

Select "Allow on every visit" to avoid to have this pop-up each time.

<figure><img src="/files/v9BKALaUPyXVfxFrGYoZ" alt=""><figcaption><p>Grant access to your microphone</p></figcaption></figure>

#### 6 - Now you should be able to see the gray waveform that allows you to see that your mic is connected.

<figure><img src="/files/hkdBwaCPTyaWUbRaR9zi" alt=""><figcaption><p>The mic is connected and ready to record</p></figcaption></figure>

If you like, you can change the microphone used to record your voice by clicking on the gear icon to the top right of the section.

#### 7 - When you're ready, click on "Start recording", the waveform will turn green and Checksub will start to record your voice.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/78YdINFxxDuLyMtTcwOT" alt=""><figcaption><p>The recording is in progress</p></figcaption></figure>

You can either read the on-screen subtitle or the full sentence in the right panel or the left editor.

<figure><img src="/files/GgOrXcL2TgQJbxOBrMgO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/wgbZsRh2tKkHi0pA1I3j" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/CuG9juH1sjHTZCFIYkGX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

We also invite you to open the Timeline to get a better idea of the video's tempo.

<figure><img src="/files/2nt9LZlksI1EGy3rlgDg" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click "Open Timeline" to the bottom-right of the editor</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/ywqIT8fjyLz84spfaGEG" alt=""><figcaption><p>The timeline give you more info regarding the tempo</p></figcaption></figure>

#### 8 - Once you've clicked on "Stop recording", you can listen to your audio, make a new recording if you're not satisfied with the result, or click on Submit to generate the new dubbing using your recording.

<figure><img src="/files/8xde20zRaRfbWOsAaHfY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once you've clicked Submit it will take between 15 seconds and sometimes over a minute to generate your dub.

<figure><img src="/files/W0TZaoF9mtrP7Fl7D7FI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once the new dub has been generated using the Emotion Recorder, you can always delete the recorded audio if you wish to switch back to a classic dub generation without using the Emotion Recorder.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/KheMTwn8UsBspcThylST" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Click on the cross to remove the recording and click on Regenerate voice. It will regenerate the voice without the emotion recorder.

# Update my video in my project

Sometimes you edit your video and want to import the new version into your Checksub project. It's helpful if you don't want to restart a new project and regenerate the subtitles.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
**If the timeline of your project has changed the subtitles will no longer be aligned.**&#x20;

For example if you have changed the length of a scene, added an introduction it is better to create a new project.&#x20;

If you have already corrected your subtitles we have a solution,\
&#x20;you can export them in TXT format. Then in the new project check the "I have a script" box. We will resynchronise the new video with the old subtitles.
{% endhint %}

### Delete the existing video in your timeline

Click on the video block on the timeline and delete it by clicking on the Backspace key on your keyboard.

&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/alvgxjyCxf510Mk0l6Sy" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The timeline will keep the subtitles, but the video is removed now.

<div align="center"><figure><img src="/files/ayccVcWzmDu87eRds6A7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Upload the new video

Click on the Upload icon in the editor. ![](/files/xzyJTZpNyf8hbuv0TESW)&#x20;

Upload the new video from your computer or by using a link.

### Now you uploaded the new video version to your project 👍

### Prosody

Prosody is the patterns of stress and [intonation](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=bbc1e2ff9b7fc04f\&q=intonation\&si=ACC90nyOnVY18Aw7zUtkWPYo5mTnppBHrCvOXWxzew70gngxKfWC60wZUMrBfYq5R3k4moLe7SftFfOa1hGHq3vitv0zz1XXdE0Im4VPPkCtxerhLsZzCQU%3D\&expnd=1\&sa=X\&ved=2ahUKEwjPwPPd96-GAxWuaqQEHV1HCkMQyecJegQIIRAQ) in a language.

For example, prosody provides clues about attitude or affective state: The sentence "Yeah, that was a great movie," can mean that the speaker liked the movie or the exact opposite, depending on the speaker's intonation. Prosody is also used to provide semantic information.

# Frequent Issues

Having an issue with Checksub? Here's the most frequent ones and how to solve it.

### My translation project is blocked on "Pending transcript"

If the status of your translation is set to "Pending transcript" this means that you have to validate your transcript. The transcript is the subtitle in the original language of the video. In order to provide you with the best possible translation, we recommend that you proofread and correct the transcript.

To do that, open the original language project and in the editor click on the "Start translation" button. It will start your automatic translation and unlock the other languages.

### My video has disappeared and is no longer visible in the project

If your video player is black, and you can't see your video anymore, look in the timeline. If the purple video block is not visible, it means that you have deleted your video from the project. But don't worry, you can easily add it back to your project.

<figure><img src="/files/ayccVcWzmDu87eRds6A7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Click on Assets icon ![](/files/Fuc4MWjlQuzOaHb7U4mw)

# How credits work

This page explains how the credit system works with Checksub.

### You use credits in proportion to your use of the platform.

#### SUBTITLES

The credits deducted correspond to the length of the video multiplied by the number of languages produced.

For example, if you generate the English subtitles of an English video with a duration of 1 minute, it will require 1 min of credits.

If you generate the subtitles in English, French and Spanish for the same video you will need 3 minutes of credits \[1min \* 3 languages]

Credit usage is rounded to the second loan.

#### AI-DUBBING

If you generate an automatic dubbing, you will need 3 minutes of credits per minute for each language. The number of credits used for voice cloning and library voice is the same.

#### LIP-SYNC

If you generate a lip sync the number of credits will vary regarding the model you're using. You will get the information when you create the lip sync in the application.
